This is sweet little Charlotte. Her mama, Holly, and I have known each other for over 33 years. We went from kindergarten to senior year together, girl scouts, all the awesome 80’s school programs, and shared a whole lot of firsts together. For as long as I can remember, even when we would play house as kids, Holly always dreamed of having a little girl. She called me this summer and told me she needed to book a newborn session for January…for a GIRL!…and I. CRIED. You know that ugly cry when a dream in your heart finally comes true against all odds? I know many of you reading this have felt the exact same way!
Charlotte arrived after an hour long car ride from Dayton. Although she was sleepy after feeding before we started, she never quite settled into a deep, relaxed sleep. It made some of the blanket poses a little more challenging. We snapped what we could and moved on to props. Well, that ended up being Charlotte’s happy place. After 4 hours of patience, snuggles, cooing, and feeding I’m so happy and pleased to share a few of my favorites from her session!
For Charlotte, we planned on blush and rose tones to give a nice, soft feminine tone to her portraits. Her mama opted for sweet and simple headbands to compliment and not take away from that gorgeous hair!
….a few yawns and small attempts to stretch, but she finally settled right into the bowl.
Goodness, this little girl is precious…even when she whimpers a little. We added in a few neutrals for a more classic look. Plus, who doesn’t love vintage lace?
Those cheeks!!! This is one of my FAVORITES!! Look at all that squish and her sweet lip pout! Be still my heart. This headband gets chosen by mamas pretty frequently. I get nervous sometimes that prospective clients might think I don’t have a variety of headbands. But, in the end, I feel that if out of all the ones I have that is the one a mama wants, then that is what we do! This was the ONE pose her parents wanted…and frankly it’s probably one that most families ask to have done. It’s not a guarantee since there are just some sweet babes that don’t care for it. Charlotte did not relax into this pose on several attempts .At the end of her session when it was wrapping up, her mama had stepped away to get things ready for them to head home. I just had this gut feeling if I tried just one more time we could make it happen. I asked her daddy to come help me real quick, and voila! Her mama had no idea we had gotten this. Her daddy and I left it as a surprise. Imagine how ecstatic she was when she saw the preview on my Facebook page ! Her mama decided she wanted the details just in color. I liked the idea of no black and white on these simply because of the colors and tone. Beautiful and feminine.
Another one of my very favorites from Charlotte’s session! I love how curly she is just like she was in her mama’s womb. This is one very proud big brother!! Holly and Jason, I couldn’t be filled with more joy and pride to see you so happy! All parents can agree that this moment right here….how tiny and new and perfectly small our babes are….it’s so fleeting. They truly do grow faster than the blink of an eye. Charlotte, you are your mama’s life long dream come true!!
