The mama of this sweet baby boy found me on Instagram (which is where almost half of my session inquiries come from. Most of the others are word-of-mouth referrals from families I’ve photographed, and I feel super blessed by that!) Although she lives in Dublin, Ohio, about a 40-minute drive from my newborn photography studio in London, Ohio, she knew I was the right person to capture this baby boy newborn photo session for her and didn’t mind a bit of a trip.
I definitely believe you have to find a photographer that feels right for you as well as one that checks all the boxes for newborn safety training, experience, your budget, etc. When it comes to choosing a newborn photographer, do your research, but don’t be afraid to trust your instinct too!
Mom opted for the petite newborn photo session for her baby boy. This means that all of our images were focused on him (no family/parent pictures.) She requested neutrals and loved the idea of mixing creams and grays. In keeping with the muted color scheme, she wanted the session to be minimalistic and really focus on little man (and all his gorgeous hair!) She clearly has great taste, because when I ask families what colors they want for their newborn photo session, they frequently send me screenshots or social media images from this session!
When you scroll through newborn photos on Instagram, they always look perfect and you rarely get a behind-the-scenes peek at the diaper changes, the breaks for feeding, or pausing to calm a fussy infant. But I have to say–there really wasn’t a lot of that with this baby boy newborn photo session! He was a very content and sleepy baby. Honestly, probably one of the best I’ve had, despite the 40-minute drive here. Mama followed my session prep instructions to a tee and he did absolutely amazing!
